تفصیلات کے مطابق سعودی عرب کی دفاعی کونسل کا پہلا اجلاس جمعرات کے روز ریاض میں منعقد ہوا ، جس میں وزارتِ دفاع کے کردار کو مزید بہتر بنانے کے لیے اقدامات کیے گئے۔
اجلاس کی صدارت شہزادہ محمد بن سلمان نے کی ، جو اس وقت مملکت میں انتہائی اہم کردار ادا کررہے ہیں۔ اجلاس میں کونسل کے کردار اور اس کے اہداف کا جائزہ لیا گیا۔ کونسل کے قیام کا مقصد وزارتِ دفاع کے اسٹریٹجک معاملات کی نگرانی اور ان میں رہنمائی فراہم کرنا ہے۔
اس میٹنگ میں وزارت کی بنیادی گورننس کونسلز کو فعال کیا گیا جن کے زیر اہتمام پراجیکٹ ریویو اور انویسٹ منٹ بورڈ، کونسل اور آف سروسز اینڈ بزنس، اپوائنٹمنٹ بورڈ اور مشترکہ ملٹری کونسل جیسے معاملات آتے ہیں۔
نئی گورننس کونسلز کے قیام کا مقصد وزارت دفاع کے فیصلہ سازی کے میکنزم کو بہتربنانا، ادارہ جاتی اور انفرادی سطح پر کارکردگی میں بہتر لانا اور بہتر انداز میں پیسے خرچ کرنا ہے۔
دفاعی کونسل کے قیام کا ایک اہم مقصد دفاعی ساز و سامان اور اسلحے کو اپ ڈیٹ کرنا اور مقامی سطح پر ملٹری ساز و سامان کی تیاری میں مدد فراہم کرنا بھی ہے۔
