غیرملکی خبررساں ادارے کے مطابق وزارت خزانہ کی بائیس صفحات پر مشتمل ایک رپورٹ میں کہا گیا کہ اقتصادی ترقی میں اضافے کی مقابلتاکم شرح کے باعث حکومت کو ٹیکسوں کی مد میں ہونے والی آمدنی میں بہت اضافہ نہیں ہو گا، اور اسی لیے دفاع کے لیے ایک اعشاریہ پانچ فیصد تک مالی وسائل مختص کرنا ایک مشکل ہدف ثابت ہو گا۔
اس کے برعکس وفاقی جرمن وزیر دفاع اٴْرزٴْولا فان ڈئر لاین نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ جرمنی کو اپنی یہ دفاعی مالیاتی منزل حاصل کرنے کی بھرپور کوشش کرنا چاہیے۔ امریکا کا مطالبہ ہے کہ نیٹو کے ایک رکن ملک کے طور پر جرمنی 2024ء تک اپنا دفاعی بجٹ بڑھا کر مجموعی قومی پیداوار کے دو فیصد کے برابر تک کرے۔
